REFLECTION

Reflection is one of the earliest ways that we experience light. From looking at ourselves in a mirror, to seeing the sunlight dance off the surface of a lake, we become captivated by it. It’s these simple concepts that allow Reflection to exist.

 

Think of lights rippling in a puddle, or a full moon reflected over the ocean, and you begin to understand Reflection. The circular heavenly body isn’t reflected as you see it in the water. It appears to be made up of a series of horizontal lines, shrinking and shimmering as they meet the horizon. It’s those images, combined with techniques using paint, embroidered threads and ribbon, that Kyson uses to create Reflection. What may appear colourless in real life, explodes in an imaginative symmetrical celebration of colour across the horizontal and vertical axis. Colours meet to excite the eye, and yet exist on their own plane to embrace their individual beauty.
